Prosecutors, who fight cases for the state, get little to no public recognition, despite them being a crucial part of our democracy – an independent judiciary. I have noticed that even when somebody gets convicted by the lower courts; very often the high court or the Supreme Court reverses the conviction, letting the criminals go. Why?
I was watching Adv. Nikam’s recent interview, where he was saying it was due to shoddy work by the police of example not preserving the crime scene intact and improper preparation of charge sheet.
So I deemed it fit to do the chart analysis of one of the best known public prosecutors, who fights cases at the lowest court level and has record of 600 life sentences and 37 death penalties, including some high profile cases. Recently he is in the news because of the very tragic Pune cases and the Maharashtra government has fast tracked that and appointed him the public prosecutor.
